Town & Country Compounding Pharmacy exists today because of Owner/Pharmacist John Herr’s passion for improving health by helping patients with challenging medication problems. John has spent over 35 years compounding customized medication for patients. His peers across the country and the physicians he works with consider him a top expert in the compounding industry.
It all began at Town & Country Apothecary on Ridgewood Avenue. When John was in pharmacy school at St John’s University, he dreamed of owning his own pharmacy one day. He accomplished that goal early in his career when he purchased Town & Country Apothecary in Ridgewood, NJ. In the early 2000s, as the need for customized medications grew, John opened a new pharmacy lab around the corner from the original Town & Country Apothecary. Outgrowing that location, Town & Country Compounding Pharmacy recently moved to its current location in Ramsey, New Jersey, further expanding with new, highly advanced state-of-the-art laboratories.
What is a Compounding Pharmacy? Medication is not one-size-fits-all, and mass-produced commercially available drugs may not work for patients for various reasons. Certain drugs, combinations of drugs, concentrations of the drugs, or specific dosage forms that the patient needs may not be commercially available at a traditional retail pharmacy. Usually, people discover compounding pharmacies when they or a loved one has a sudden condition or illness.
A compounding pharmacy can customize the ingredients, strength, form, flavor, and more. A compounding pharmacy can also often provide medications that a drug manufacturer has discontinued or may be in short supply.
