Member Monday – John Maisto

John Maisto joined Care Plus NJ approximately 30 years ago. Graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work, he started his career providing vocational counseling services in the Partial Hospital Department. After working directly with clients for many years, John realized that many of those clients in the workshop activities were capable and had the motivation to work at a higher level. The need to provide meaningful work and teach marketable skills is how Care Plus Laser Imaging, Care Plus Workforce Solutions (CPWS), came to be. In 1996, John brought the business concept of remanufacturing cartridges to the agency. The team of three included John, his supervisor, and one client who completed most of the remanufacturing, with John delivering the cartridges from his personal vehicle.

The gross sales for the first year was approximately $17,000. Within 12-years, CPWS became a Hewlett Packard authorized Dealer and was able to secure the State of New Jersey imaging contract shortly after. John assisted with implementation of the E-commerce site that is used to sell a variety of office supplies: https://www.careplusworkforcesolutions.org.

After much success, CPWS launched Care Plus Z Wash, and started working with the state of New Jersey to secure over 9 NJ State facilities to provide cleaning services for their linens and personal clothing.

Over the years we have hired and trained over 100 clients and currently maintain over 37 clients employed. We continue to look for business so we can provide employment and training opportunities for disabled and economically disadvantaged individuals through the sale of products and services.
