Maureen C. Donohue, CSJP-A, serves as Executive Director of Peace Ministries, a role she has held since 2016 following two years of service on the organization’s founding Board of Trustees. Peace Ministries is a nonprofit corporation established by the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace (CSJP) to strengthen its ability to govern and advocate for its sponsored ministries in New Jersey. There are five ministries, all committed to compassionate service to people in need, including St. Joseph’s School for the Blind, York Street Project and Peace Care, all located in Jersey City, along with Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck and Waterspirit in Monmouth County.
As Executive Director, Maureen provides active and engaged support to all five CSJP-sponsored ministries, offering governance and compliance oversight while fostering a culture of collaboration and partnership among them.
Prior to her current role, Maureen practiced as a Certified Public Accountant and was the Chief Financial Officer for the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) in Roseland, N.J., for 20 years. There, she oversaw financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, investments, insurance, and tax compliance for the NJCPA and four related entities. Maureen also served as interim Chief Executive Officer of Peace Care for two years, where she advanced the integration of its two skilled nursing facilities in Jersey City.
An Associate of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace since 1994, Maureen has long been committed to faith-based service and leadership. She served on the Board of Directors of Margaret Anna Cusack Care Center (now Peace Care St. Joseph’s) for more than a decade, as well as the Advisory Board of Catholic Campus Ministry in the Archdiocese of Newark. She is also a former trustee and officer of Shelter Our Sisters (now the Center for Hope and Safety), a domestic violence shelter in Bergen County, N.J.
Maureen would welcome interested chamber members to reach out to learn more about Peace Ministries, our work and the good works of our sponsored ministries as we live out the CSJP mission of peace through justice.
